Jack Rankin is your Conservative Party candidate for the new Windsor constituency at the coming General Election.
Graduating from the University of Warwick with a master’s degree in Mathematics and Physics, Jack worked for Centrica on the Maidenhead Road as a consultant to the energy industry. He was elected as a councillor for represent central Windsor on the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, and served as the youngest-ever Cabinet Member.
At this time, amongst other community roles, he chaired the Windsor Town Forum and served as a board member of the Berkshire Local Enterprise Partnership. Having been selected as our parliamentary candidate and hoping to succeed the retiring Adam Afriyie, Jack is again asking Windsor for its support.
He explains: "My motivation comes from values instilled into me by my parents all the way back in my days growing up in Ashton-under-Lyne outside of Manchester - I come from an aspirational, working-class background, with self-made small businesspeople parents. They weren’t political, but worked night and day to secure the qualifications they needed and grow their business to ensure both I and my brother Gus could have the opportunities they hadn’t enjoyed.
"From an early age I associated our family’s values of aspiration and quiet patriotism with the Conservative and Unionist Party.
I will be a fully active, involved and local Member of Parliament, visible and available right across the various towns and villages of this constituency.
"We must continue Adam’s campaigns on flooding and Heathrow, and I would vote similarly to Adam against any backsliding towards the European Union. But we must also ensure that all our towns and villages have access to their Member of Parliament, who will fight day and night for their priorities. With your support, that is the kind of MP I hope to be."
Jack stood against Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour twice in the General Elections of 2017 and 2019 and ran Vote Leave in the Parliamentary Constituencies of Windsor and Maidenhead. He is a past Treasurer and Deputy Chairman of Windsor Conservative Association.
